Apostille Authentication
An Apostille provides the highest level of document legalisation as it certifies the document's country of origin, the name of the authority which has put a seal or stamp on it (translator's and notary's signatures), as well as the conditions of its verification. In order to obtain an Apostille, a document has to be sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where it is affixed with the UK Apostille stamp.
An Apostille may be required for legal documents and official personal documents (like passports) that are to be used abroad, for business or personal reasons (in countries signed up to the Hague Convention 1961).
